As you probably gathered from Episode 8, the new Janelle Monáe album is one of my most anticipated albums of 2013.  And, spoiler alert, it’s probably gonna be on my top 5 list of the end of the year.  If not #1.

It officially hits the stores next Tuesday, but right now Stereogum has a full-album stream available for the listening to.

If there was any doubt, let me tell you.  It is AMAZINGLY GOOD.  Seriously.  If I were you, I’d stop what I was doing right now, set aside an hour and 7 minutes, and LISTEN TO THIS.

So, yeah.  I think I like it. Continue Reading →

Dan Deacon USA

This Friday, [Adult Swim] ran a 22-minute video by Dave Hughes (of Off The Air) and Dan Deacon — it’s based on the USA Suite from his new album (and Crush On Radio pick) America.  If you missed it on the tee-vee, you can watch it on the Adult Swim site… or if you’ve got On Demand, under Adult Swim -> AS Specials HD.  Or… HERE:

Seriously, it’s really amazing.  Especially the bit with the birds.  Oh man, the birds.  It’s video editing in the service of pure beauty.  Check it out. Continue Reading →
